Peshawar: 4 people died due to roof collapse during rain in different areas of Pakhtunkhwa while Peshawar was plunged into darkness.
Many people were also injured due to the collapse of weak roofs during the rains in different districts of the province, while all the Pesco feeders were tripped and electricity was suspended in the provincial capital for more than 24 hours.
According to the Department of Meteorology, rain is likely to continue intermittently in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar. More rains with thundershowers are also predicted in Hazara and Malakand divisions.
After the rain, Peshawar recorded a minimum temperature of 15 and a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius. During the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Cherat with 66 mm. Apart from this, Dir 64, Malam Jabba 55, Peshawar 48, Takht Bai 35, Shido Sharif 55 while Chitral recorded 23 mm of rain.
Along with the rain, snowfall is also continuing in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Meteorological Department, up to 5 inches of snowfall has been recorded in Kalam.
Meanwhile, during the rains in Peshawar, all the Pesco feeders tripped and the entire city was plunged into darkness. Due to the 24-hour power outage, citizens also prepared suhoor in the dark, while other alternative arrangements, including UPS, were also shut down due to prolonged breakdown.
According to Pesco spokesperson, 45 feeders were affected due to rain, after which the power restoration work is going on.
On the other hand, according to Rescue 1122 Shangla, a room in the house of a person named Praveet Khan collapsed due to heavy rain at Tehsil Alpuri Lailoni Banda Chena, in which 2 people were buried under the debris and one girl was injured. He has been shifted to the hospital for treatment. Among the dead and injured are Irfanullah son of Prabi Khan age 14 years, Masamat (r) daughter of Prabi Khan age 16 years while the injured include Masmat (r) daughter of Prabi Khan age 12 years.
Similarly, the roof of a room collapsed in village Kharian Tehsil Navagai of Bajaur, 3 people were buried under the debris. Rescue 1122 reached the spot on receiving the information and carried out rescue operations and took out the three persons buried under the debris and shifted them to the hospital. Among the injured, the wife of a citizen named Idris aged 26 years and daughter aged 2 years died while a 4-year-old son was injured.
