Islamabad: Federal Law Minister Azam Tarar says that no organization can be allowed to rewrite the constitution.
The meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs was chaired by Chairman Rana Aradat Sharif. In the meeting, the bill to amend the Elections Act, 2017 was considered.
Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar supported the bill and said that no organization can be allowed to rewrite the constitution. Courts interpret the law. The elected member has to join a political party within 3 days. If you contest an independent election and join a political party, your party will remain the same, it is not possible to change it.
Azam Nazir Tarar further said that joining a political party is once, after that it is irrevocable.
On the other hand, the members supported by PTI opposed the Election Amendment Bill. Shahida Akhtar Ali said that they have been and will continue to work for the supremacy of the Constitution and the law. We take an oath to legislate for the good of the people. It would be good if legislation was brought against IPs. Whenever such a situation occurs, such laws come. The Election Commission was always making sandwiches. We are seeing the results of these amendments. Such amendments should go into detail. The government came forward and brought the amendment.
