American YouTuber became the most popular channel on the platform, overtaking Indian YouTube channel T-Series in the race for Mr. Best Subscriber.
With over 269 million subscribers, Mr. Best (real name James Donaldson) first rose to fame in 2017 when he counted to 100,000 in a video spanning more than 40 hours. This video has been viewed more than 3 million times.
Later, in a follow-up to this video, he released a video counting from one lakh to two lakhs in a span of over 55 hours, with a little over 3.8 million views.
It should be noted that earlier Indian music video and movie trailer channel T-Series won the title of the most popular channel in 2019 from the Swedish channel Pew Die Pye.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mr Best said: “After six years we finally got our revenge for Peo Die Pie.”
After his self-counting videos waned, Mr Best rose to fame with big-budget competitions, including a live stream of the 2020 ‘Rock, Paper, Caesars’ event. A prize of 250,000 dollars was kept in the competition.
