The Lahore High Court has declared that no adequate measures have been taken regarding smog, no construction work will be done for 2 months, why is it not being implemented, schools are closed, why is the construction not being stopped.
A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the petitions filed regarding the remedy of smog, the Punjab government submitted a report regarding the measures taken in the court.
Lawyer Punjab government said that the administration will conduct self-inspection on lorry bases, truck stands, three major terminals on closed roads were cracked down, 400 vehicles were checked.
Justice Shahid Karim inquired that how many vehicles were not in good condition during the inspection of 400 vehicles?
Advocate Punjab Government said that 42 vehicles have failed in the inspection, all Deputy Commissioners of Punjab have been informed about the inspection, since yesterday was Sunday, the Secretary Transport could not issue instructions.
Justice Shahid Karim expressed his anger and said, “What are you talking about? Look at the situation outside. Every minute is very important. I am ready to hear this case even on Sunday.”
Justice Shahid Kareem directed that the government should impose the duty of DCs and ACs across Punjab. Yesterday, there was no traffic officer who was checking. Officers should go out on the streets and check.
Justice Shahid Karim remarked that no adequate measures have been taken regarding smog, there will be no construction work in Dumah, why is it not being implemented, schools are closed, everything is in front, why is the construction not being stopped? At present, there is an emergency in Punjab, you have no idea, the remains of crops are being burnt even today.
