Islamabad: King Charles III of Great Britain contacted Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif over the phone and invited the Prime Minister to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Samoa in October, which he accepted.
The Prime Minister described the occasion as historic as it will be the first Commonwealth meeting to be chaired by him after the reign of King Charles.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to the Commonwealth of Nations and emphasized on the key themes of the meeting such as sustainable development, consolidation of democracy and youth development.
Mentioning King Charles’s interest in environmental issues, the Prime Minister said that important issues of climate change will be discussed in the meeting.
The Prime Minister inquired about the King’s health and wished the Princess of Wales well in her recovery. Along with this, he expressed hope that King Charles and Queen will visit Pakistan soon.
