Tel Aviv: Israel has announced plans for Jewish settlement on an additional 2,000 acres in the Jordan Valley.
According to the Times of Israel, Israel has claimed 2,000 acres of the Jordan Valley near the Jordan River and plans to settle Jewish settlers on these lands.
Hundreds of housing society units will be built on the land near business and industrial districts, overseen by the far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smutrich.
8,000 dunams (1,977 acres, 800 hectares) of land have been claimed, paving the way for new development projects.
According to the broadcaster, hundreds of housing units are planned to be developed in the area, which is located near the Israeli settlement of Yafit, as well as a business and industrial district.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smutrich expressed his determination to continue to promote settlement of Jewish settlements with hard work and strategy across the country.
