The Islamabad High Court ordered the Ministry of Interior and others to remove Senator Shibli Faraz’s name from the ECL within a week.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri heard the contempt of court petition for not removing the name of Senator Shibli Faraz from ECL despite the court order. Shibli Faraz appeared in the court along with his lawyer.
The Islamabad High Court said that if the court order is not implemented, the Interior Secretary should appear at the next hearing.
During the hearing, the court inquired whether the name has not been released yet. The lawyer replied that he is neither telling nor giving a report. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri said in his remarks that why these matters are not discussed in the assembly, they are parliamentarians. The lawyer said that the opposite is being done there, the Speaker also says.
The court ordered that the name should be removed from the ECL and informed to the court within a week and if the implementation is not done within a week, the home secretary should appear before the court in person.
The court adjourned the hearing for a week.
