KARACHI: Protests on behalf of the public have intensified over the non-supply of electricity and water in various areas of the city and the authorities have warned against continuing the protest if the problems are not resolved.
Residents protested against electricity and water supply in several areas of Gurmand, Liaquatabad, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Madras Chowk, Korangi Nasir Jump, Korangi Shah Faisal Bagh, Babar Kanta Korangi, Murtaza Chowrangi and Korangi Godam Chowrangi. As a result, the traffic flow in the affected areas was severely affected and the system was disrupted.
As the flow of traffic was affected, the common citizens had to face a very painful situation.
Protesters raised slogans against K-Electric’s brutal load-shedding and self-inflicted cable faults during the protest over non-supply of electricity and water.
On this occasion, the protestors demanded the government officials to play their role in providing the citizens with the basic amenities of life, electricity, water and gas, otherwise the protest will continue.
The protestors said that the elected representatives of different political parties have also taken a mysterious silence, after being elected in the election, those who claim to serve the public are missing from the scene and it seems that after their success, they are not concerned about the problems of the people. There is no concern.
He said that the traffic police personnel also reached the spot to maintain the flow of traffic in the affected areas, after which the vehicles were diverted to alternative routes, but due to heavy traffic pressure, long queues of vehicles were formed. Due to which the worst traffic jam was seen.
The citizens protesting against the non-supply of electricity and water were peacefully dispersed by the police after negotiations and the traffic was restored.
On the other hand, K-Electric officials claim that there is no unannounced load shedding in any area and load shedding is being done in the city as per the schedule published on the website.
