Mumbai: In the Indian state of Maharashtra, the administration demolished a part of the mosque built 25 years ago under the guise of illegal encroachment with the help of heavy machinery.
According to Indian media, officials of the municipal body in Mumbai arrived with machinery to demolish the Subhaniya mosque without giving any notice.
On which tension spread in the area and a large number of people gathered. Loud slogans were raised against the administration and protests were made against the partisan move.
The Imam Masjid and the Masjid Committee also assured to provide all the documents related to the construction, but the administration did not listen and demolished a part of the mosque.
There was a wave of anger among the Muslims. Opposition party Congress Hindu MLA Varsha Sangwad also came forward in support of Muslims against the demolition of the mosque.
The Varsha Sangwad assured the Muslim population that it has requested the intervention of the Chief Minister of the province, Eknath Shinde, on which he has stopped further demolition of the mosque for the time being.
Despite the orders of the Chief Minister, the officials of the municipal organization left with their machinery, but they have threatened to come again after 8 days.
