Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that strict action will be taken against the threats to kill the Chief Justice.
While holding a joint press conference with Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the state will not tolerate killings. Disparaging remarks were made against Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa. An attempt was made to incite people to murder on social media. If such things are allowed, the Shiraz of the state will be disintegrated.
He said that bloodshed is being attempted in the country in the name of religion. Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa is being targeted with pretexts. There is a system in the state, one cannot make baseless accusations. The state will respond to such fatwas with full force.
Khawaja Asif said that the state will not accept the dictation of any group. The country should be ruled by the constitution, justice should prevail.
Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal while addressing the press conference said that threatening the Chief Justice is an open rebellion against the Constitution. Judiciary alone has the authority to punish. No group is allowed to issue fatwas to kill someone. Terrorism, suicide attacks and fatwas have nothing to do with Islam. The law will move with full force against these elements. He said that we have to protect every citizen in the country.
