California: If you’re in your 20s and unhappy, making good friends may be the key to happiness, new research has found.
The team, led by Lisa Walsh, a postdoctoral research associate at the University of California, Los Angeles, published their report in the journal PLOS, showing that being with your best friends is an important factor in any person’s well-being. For example, if you are single.
We found that singles who were satisfied with their friends were happier with their lives, while those who were dissatisfied with their friends were less happy, the researchers said.
Further research found that an increasing number of Americans who were less happy in their early 20s than in their later years were not in any long-term relationships.
