Karachi: For the first time, the export activities of date palm sap have also started from Pakistan, in this regard, palm sap has been exported from Pakistan to Oman.
Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Association Patron General Waheed Ahmed told Express that there is a huge demand for palm juice in the international market, which Pakistani exporters can take full advantage of. He said that Pakistani exporters have the ability to earn a lot of foreign exchange by importing dates from Iraq and producing its value-added products in a systematic manner and exporting them to countries around the world.
He said that due to global warming, the date crop in the country has been affected by bad weather. Produced dates from Pakistan are exported to Germany, USA, Turkey, Australia and other countries, after which these countries add value to it.
In western countries, palm syrup is used in honey and other industries. If the government conducts research and development on new varieties of dates and the crop is good, Pakistani exporters can also add value to dates and export them at high prices and increase their share in the international valued date market.
Regarding the second Food and Agriculture Exhibition under the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, he said that encouraging business deals for Pakistani fresh fruits, vegetables, juice and pulp have been concluded in the exhibition. Deals worth $350 million in fresh fruit and value-added products have been made at the exhibition.
Waheed Ahmed said that in the exhibition, importers from 35 countries from America, Canada, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Africa and Central Asia have made deals in Pakistani fruits, vegetables, juices and pulp. The volume of which is 350 million dollars. For the first time in the exhibition, there has been interest from some countries where Pakistani juices will be exported where they have never been exported before.
