ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is afraid of a revenue shortfall of more than 20 billion rupees during this month (March), while in order to achieve the targets, the FBR has canceled weekly holidays on Saturdays and Sundays. And the subsidiary institutions have been announced to be kept open till four in the evening.
In the circular issued by FBR, it is stated that on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31, FBR and its related institutions and related bank branches will remain open till 4 pm so that taxpayers can deposit their tax dues in banks. can
The Heads of Field Formations have been asked by the FBR to liaise with the branches of the respective banks so that the tax dues deposited by the taxpayers on these two days are deposited in the national exchequer on the same day. Involvement in the tax recovery of March can be ensured.
FBR sources say that the tax collection target for the current month (March) was set at 879 billion rupees by the Federal Board of Revenue, while 835 billion rupees could be collected till March 29, which is 44 times more than the set target. A billion rupees is less.
He said that even with the IMF, the FBR has set a tax collection target of Rs 879 billion in March, while the FBR’s tax collection for the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2023-24 (July to March 2023-24) has been set. The collection target is 6 thousand 707 billion rupees and so far 6 thousand 666 billion rupees have been collected.
FBR has therefore announced to keep offices and banks open on Saturdays and Sundays for tax collection as the set target is likely to be met.
