Under new directives introduced in the European Union, artificial intelligence capable of detecting employees’ emotions through webcams and voice recognition systems has been banned in Europe.
According to the news agency, from August 2, the use of AI technology (which trick people into spending money) on websites will also be prohibited in European Union countries.
The Artificial Intelligence Act, formed last year under the European Commission, is the world’s first comprehensive set of AI regulations aimed at protecting people from AI-based discrimination, harassment and fraud.
According to the new directives, employers will also not be able to use webcams and voice recognition systems to track employees’ emotions, while the use of mobile CCTV cameras with AI-based facial recognition technology for law enforcement purposes will be prohibited, with some exceptions.
