It has been decided to schedule the review petitions of the Muslim League-N on the decision of the Supreme Court after the summer vacation.
Minutes of the July 18 meeting of the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Committee have been released. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Muneeb Akhtar participated in the meeting of the three-member committee set up regarding the hearing of Supreme Court cases and formation of benches under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice.
It has been decided to hold the hearing of the review petition filed by the PML-N against the decision regarding giving specific seats to PTI in the session after the summer vacation if the 13 judges hearing the main case are available.
According to the minutes of the committee meeting, Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa has declared in his dissenting note that the parties to the case have been given the right to appeal against the decision by the constitution. Therefore, preference should be given not to the comfort and convenience of judges but to the Constitution.
The Chief Justice said that if the revision petitions are not fixed for hearing immediately, it will amount to injustice to the petitioners. Summer vacations should also be canceled if necessary for hearing revision petitions.
Meanwhile, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Muneeb Akhtar declared that only the 13 judges who heard the main case, who are currently on summer vacation, can hear the revision petitions.
