The prime minister has decided to eliminate many important ministries and departments by accelerating the austerity plan in the tough economic conditions.
According to the sources, ministries and institutions related to the affairs of the provinces will be closed. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked for a plan to abolish 5 provinces.
The Institutional Reforms Cell set up by the Prime Minister started work on right sizing and sought recommendations from five federal ministries within a week.
Sources further said that the ministries that were asked for recommendations include Information Technology, Kashmir Affairs, Ministry of Safran, Industry and Production and Ministry of Health Services.
