Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has put the administration on high alert in view of possible rains.
The Chief Minister issued instructions to take preventive and necessary administrative measures in view of urban flooding and ordered the commissioners, deputy commissioners and WASA to be active for drainage.
Maryam Nawaz said that the efforts for the timely release of rainwater in Lahore are commendable, the relevant officers should remain in the field until the rainwater is drained, the administration and the people should be active, resources should be utilized for drainage.
He further directed that rain water should not accumulate on any road for a long time, to ensure implementation of PDMA SOPs to deal with flood situation.
The Chief Minister said that the protection of life and property of the citizens is the responsibility of the government, it will be ensured in every way, the safety of the life and property of the people of the low-lying areas will be ensured, the safety of the livestock in the rural areas will be ensured. Steps should also be taken for this.
Maryam Nawaz ordered that timely aid and relief should be provided to the victims in the flood situation, the members of the assembly should effectively supervise the rescue and relief work in the possible flood situation, and awareness should be spread to prevent electrocution accidents.
He said that citizens are requested not to let small children near bare wires and poles and in case of emergency, rescue and relief activities should be started in time.
