BEIRUT: A ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Lebanese resistance organization Hezbollah is expected to be reached soon, and there has been positive progress in the negotiations in this regard.
According to foreign news agencies, Lebanese sources have reported that the US and French presidents may announce a ceasefire within 36 hours.
White House spokesman John Kirby has confirmed that the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah are going in the right direction and the two sides are close to an agreement.
The French President’s office has also confirmed that there has been positive progress in the ceasefire negotiations in Lebanon and that they may soon prove fruitful.
According to Arab media, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations has also claimed that a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah is close, and the Israeli cabinet will discuss this further today.
Meanwhile, Israeli attacks continue in southern Lebanon, killing more than 12 people in today’s attacks. Israeli bombings of refugee camps and hospitals in Gaza have also continued, killing more than 30 Palestinians in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, the number of people affected by the cold after the winter rains in Gaza is expected to increase, and half a million people are expected to be affected.
Several Israeli soldiers were reported killed in a Hamas rocket attack on an Israeli military vehicle in Rafah.
Hezbollah has not yet issued a statement in this regard, but expectations of a ceasefire agreement are growing.
