GLAND: According to a report by a wildlife organization, the population of birds worldwide is declining rapidly, indicating that climate change is taking place at a negative level.
World Wildlife Fund (WF) Turkey wildlife expert Ahmet Emre Kotoku told the Turkish state news agency that birds are the first driver of degradation in an area. If there is a decline in the bird population, it indicates that something is wrong.
Giving an example of the relationship between bird populations and the balance of nature, he said that in Europe, birds that used to feed on farmland at one time suffered a decline in insect populations due to pesticides. Pollination also decreased due to this.
He also said that if there was a sufficient proportion of birds of prey, pesticides would not be needed as there would be fewer rats. America and European countries have made many plans to deal with this problem, which we should also implement.
