Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a reduction in the price of petrol by more than 10 rupees while providing great relief to the people on Eid-ul-Adha.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, it was said that the Prime Minister announced a reduction in the price of petrol by 10 rupees 20 paise per liter.
The Prime Minister also announced a reduction in the price of diesel by Rs 2 33 paise per litre.
After the reduction by the Prime Minister, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 258.16 per liter while the new price of diesel has been increased to Rs 267.89 per litre.
It should be noted that 15 days before this announcement by the Prime Minister, a big reduction in the prices was announced, but later the prices were reduced very little by the Ministry of Finance.
On May 31, the official broadcaster Pakistan Television reported that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced a reduction in the price of petrol by 15 rupees 40 paise per liter and the price of diesel by 7 rupees 90 paise.
However, despite this announcement, the notification of reduction in petroleum products could not be issued by the Ministry of Finance for a long time and when the notification was issued, it included Rs 4 74 paise in the price of petrol and Rs 3 86 paise in the price of diesel. A reduction was made per unit.
Later, the Prime Minister’s Office clarified that the Prime Minister’s statement regarding the increase was outdated and related to the previous month’s petrol adjustment.
According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister House, during the last few months, the government has given a total relief of 35 rupees per liter of petrol to the public.
