The chances of asteroid 2024 YR4 hitting Earth in 2032 have dropped from 3.1 percent to nearly zero.
The US space agency NASA has revealed that the chance of the asteroid hitting Earth in December 2032 has dropped to 0.0017 percent.
On the other hand, the European Space Agency has also given a similar risk of 0.002 percent.
According to NASA, there is a 99.9983 percent chance that the asteroid will pass safely by Earth in seven years, which is equivalent to a 1 in 59,000 chance of a collision.
Although new data shows that the asteroid has a 1.7 percent chance of hitting the moon, there is no danger to Earth from such an impact.
The agency also said that when asteroid 2024 YR4 was first discovered, it had a significant chance of hitting Earth in 2032.
But as observations of the asteroid continued to be made, NASA experts were able to calculate more accurate patterns of its trajectory and have now found that the asteroid poses no significant risk of hitting our planet.
