India defeated Pakistan in the final group match of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.
In the match played in Hollenbeer, China, India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 1-2, this was the green shirts’ first defeat in a tournament.
India’s Harmanpreet Singh scored both goals while Pakistan’s only goal was scored by Ahmed Nadeem in the first quarter, the green shirts squandered important chances against their traditional rivals and failed to score.
India has won 8 out of the last 11 matches in the World Hockey Championships while losing 3 of them.
It should be noted that both the teams have secured a place in the semi-finals of the event and there is a strong possibility that the final will also be between them.
On the other hand, Pakistan has 2 victories in 4 matches in the event while 2 matches have been drawn, similarly, traditional rival India has won all their 4 matches.
The teams of Pakistan and India were undefeated in the event, but the defeat has broken the illusion of the green shirts.
