Lahore: The increase and decrease in the prices of petroleum products are implemented immediately, but the prices of other lubricants, including engine gear and brake oil, are only increased and not decreased.
The prices of lubricants are determined by the oil marketing companies instead of Ogra, who are depriving the public of billions of rupees annually by setting their arbitrary prices.
In the year 2014, the Ministry of Petroleum entrusted the authority to determine the prices of high octane including engine, gear and other lubricants from OGRA to oil marketing companies, since then these same oil marketing companies have been controlling the prices of these lubricants and high octane. Pricing is being determined.
Annual consumption of domestic and imported lubricants in Pakistan is more than 193 million to 195 million liters while monthly consumption is more than 16 to 18 million liters.
The price of motorcycle engine oil across the country, including Lahore, has reached from 500 rupees to 1 thousand rupees, while the price of car, truck engine, gear and brake oil is also from 3 and a half thousand to 7 and a half thousand rupees per liter.
According to Khawaja Atif, Secretary General of Petroleum Dealers Association, the monopoly of oil marketing companies has been established, they increase rates at will, but some oil companies force petrol pump owners to sell their lubricants if they do not take lubricants. They stop the supply of petroleum products, while the owners of petrol pumps pay the price of petroleum products to these companies in advance, but despite this, these companies are blackmailing. should be determined and people can be saved from looting of billions of rupees.
In this regard, Chairman of Oil Marketing Companies Association Tariq Wazir Ali says that the pricing of lubricants was deregulated and after fifteen days their prices cannot be reduced like petroleum products. It is linked to the market, it has a lot of costs from packaging to processing, then it is not used like normal petroleum products, companies have thousands of liters of stock, so its prices are linked to the prices of petroleum products. Can’t be done.
He also denied that the owners of petrol pumps are forced to keep stock of lubricant, but the company that owns the petrol pump has to sell its lubricant too.
