A lawsuit has been filed against Apple, accusing the company of illegally monitoring its employees’ personal devices and iCloud accounts.
According to media reports, Apple has been accused of illegally monitoring employees’ personal devices and iCloud accounts, in addition to preventing them from discussing their salaries and employment conditions.
The complaint filed in California state court by Amar Bhakta, who works in digital advertising for Apple, claims that the company encourages employees to install software on personal devices so that Apple can access their email, photo library, health, smart home data and other personal information.
The lawsuit alleges that Apple enforces privacy policies that prevent employees from discussing work conditions and with the media and from legally disclosing secrets.
Amar Bhakta, who worked for Apple until 2020, says he was barred from discussing his work on a podcast and ordered to remove information about his employment status from his LinkedIn profile.
The lawsuit says Apple’s surveillance policies and practices are restrictive and unlawfully restrict employees’ right to disclose harmful secrets, competition, freedom of movement for employees, and freedom of speech.
