Islamabad: After Lahore, a petition has also been filed in Islamabad High Court against the installation of firewall and internet shutdown in the country.
The petitioner has approached the Islamabad High Court through Iman Mazari and has taken a position to stop the installation of the firewall affecting the fundamental rights of the citizens.
In the petition, the Islamabad High Court has been requested to make the installation of firewall subject to consultation of all stakeholders and protection of fundamental rights. Access to the Internet for livelihood should be recognized as a fundamental human right under the Constitution.
In the application filed in the court, it has been further said that a report based on all the details related to the firewall should be sought from the parties and the process of installing the firewall should be suspended until the application is decided. Orders should be given to ensure uninterrupted internet access of citizens.
Cabinet Secretary, ITT Secretary, Interior Secretary have been made parties in the petition while PTA, Ministry of Human Rights are also included in the parties.
