Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to conduct a third party audit of all projects of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A meeting regarding FBR affairs was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that FBR is the backbone of the country’s economy. Digitization of FBR marks an important milestone in the government’s major economic reforms. Improvement in revenue will improve the delivery of services to the public and improve the social sector. Improving the enforcement system of FBR is the need of the hour.
The Prime Minister praised the FBR transformation plan while directing to prepare a comprehensive strategy for making the enforcement system of FBR more active. Shahbaz Sharif said that good taxpayers should be invited and they should be consulted on the FBR transformation plan and suggestions should be taken. Promotion of the private sector is among the government’s priorities. A functioning and prosperous private sector is vital to a country’s economy. He directed to speed up the measures regarding the prevention of trafficking.
The meeting was given a detailed briefing on the FBR transformation plan. Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Ahmed, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb and other relevant senior government officials participated in the meeting.
