LAHORE: World famous singer Ali Zafar announced the award for Pakistani Olympian Arshad Nadeem who won gold medal for Pakistan in Olympics after 40 years.
Ali Zafar released a special post in the name of Arshad Nadeem on the social networking site X (formerly Twitter), in which he said that Arshad Nadeem not only won the gold medal for Pakistan, but also made a throw of 92.97 meters in the history of the Olympics. A record has been set, I will reward Arshad Nadeem with Rs 10 lakh through my foundation for this historic achievement.
The singer also appealed to the government of Pakistan to establish a sports academy in the name of Arshad Nadeem.
He also said that the government of Pakistan and the entire nation should give a grand welcome to Arshad Nadeem.
Ali Zafar added that if our athletes start getting the support they deserve, we can win 10 gold medals in a year.
It may be noted that it is 32 years since Pakistan won any medal at the Olympics, the last time Pakistan won a bronze medal in hockey at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
The last gold medal won by Pakistan was in 1984, 40 years ago by a hockey team.
During the final competition, Arshad Nadeem could not throw in his first turn but in the second turn he threw 92.97 meters which is the biggest throw in the history of Olympics so far.
