Former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo has been sentenced to 20 and a half years in prison for bribery.
According to the news agency, the former president of Peru, Toledo, was accused of accepting a bribe of 3.5 million dollars from a Brazilian construction company.
The news agency added that Alejandro Toledo is a cancer patient, so he requested the court to let him serve his sentence at home.
Alejandro Toledo was the President of Peru from 2001 to 2006. It is Peru’s first high-profile conviction related to Brazil’s Lava Jato corruption scandal.
