A new study recently added two new factors to the list of 14 risk factors that increase the likelihood of a dementia diagnosis.
In research published in The Lancet, scientists report that new evidence adds vision loss and high cholesterol to the list of dementia risk factors.
Professor Gil Livingston at University College London said: “Our new report shows that much more can and should be done by tackling risk factors to reduce the risk of dementia.
“We now have strong evidence that longer exposures to risk have a greater effect and that these risks act more strongly in people who are vulnerable,” he added.
That’s why it’s important that we redouble prevention efforts for those who need them most.
