Beirut: A special meeting of the United Nations Security Council was held regarding the current situation in Lebanon after the explosions in communication devices in Lebanon.
The United Nations says that if Israel’s war with Hamas and Hezbollah intensifies, there will be serious damage in the region. Still, there is room for diplomacy. Members of the Security Council should use their influence on the parties.
Robert Wood, the deputy US delegate at the meeting, said that the US has no role in the current situation and the parties should refrain from such actions that would push the region into a destructive war.
Volker Turk, the head of the United Nations Human Rights, said that the perpetrators of the attacks on Lebanon should be transparently investigated and punished.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib said that we want justice, not revenge, and no one in the world is safe after the attacks through communication devices.
