Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that such a big task like the 26th constitutional amendment was not possible in the presence of any other Chief Justice.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in an interview to the British Broadcasting Corporation that I did not know that Mansoor Ali Shah would not become the Chief Justice.
He said that without Maulana Fazlur Rahman our numbers were full, without the input of the opposition our numbers were full. We could have made the constitution of our choice, but the procedure of the People’s Party has been, if the promise of the democratic charter is to be fulfilled, then I did not want a forced vote.
Chairman People’s Party said that the powers which were to be given to the Constitutional Court were given to the Constitutional Bench. It should be clear that the notification of the appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice was issued yesterday.
