BANGLORE: American technology company Microsoft has said that it will invest $3 billion to expand its Azure cloud and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to a report by foreign news agency Reuters, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that $3 billion will be invested in expanding the capacity of Azure cloud and AI in India, which will double the company’s investment in India and reduce prices.
A Microsoft spokesperson said that the two-year investment will be to increase the ability of Indian citizens to use AI.
Explaining the largest investment ever in India, he said that this investment is part of the company’s recent announcement of investing $80 billion in AI data centers in the fiscal year 2025.
Satya Nadella said at a conference in Bangalore, India that Microsoft has more than 20,000 employees in 10 cities in India and the company is committed to helping local users and citizens build capacity.
He pointed out that the community’s support for Microsoft, especially for developers, is to be involved in AI projects on the GIT Hub Copilot based on AI.
He said that India is the second largest country after the US on the GIT Hub and in fact, work is underway to make it the largest country by 2028 and we have also received support from India on AI projects, which is second only to the US.
Satya Nadella said that Microsoft’s plan is to make 10 million citizens in India experts in AI by 2030, while 2.4 million people were trained last year.
It should be noted that India is an important market for the American technology company, which is why top executives from the company to the head of Advanced Micro Devices have visited India and have promised large investments.
Satya Nadella’s home country is India and, like the heads of a few other technology companies, he is also popular in India, where an engineering degree is considered a source of prosperity.
His popularity is gauged by the fact that a large number of Indian citizens gathered at his event in Bangalore on Tuesday during his presence in India in connection with the Microsoft AI Tour.
