The Special Communication Organization has inaugurated various IT parks in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
SCO’s initiative to empower the youth of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan aims to bring digital revolution in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The aim of these IT parks is to transform Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan into IT-enabled regions. According to the details, 61 IT parks and freelancing hubs were established in the two regions in a record time of 16 months.
The aim of the technology parks by SCO is to provide an environment-friendly system to local communities and administrations, while the freelancing hubs aim to empower the youth by developing their skills and providing them with opportunities for success.
This is the 21st project of the SCO under the plan to establish 50 software technology parks and freelancing hubs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. These IT parks alone have created 6,500 jobs and empowered 1,600 freelancers. Each IT park office has high-speed internet and uninterrupted power supply, while the organization is also providing independent living centers for disabled children where they are learning a lot.
SCO has also set up freelancing hubs for women where they are working in a safe environment. SCO plans to set up 100 IT setups in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. This will pave the way for transforming the region into an IT hub as per Vision 2025.
