Technology company Google has once again laid off a large number of its employees. This time, the company has targeted 10% of its employees in management positions (including directors and vice presidents).
According to a foreign news agency, CEO Sundar Pichai made this announcement in an all-hands meeting (a meeting in which all employees participate), emphasizing that the company is facing competition from competitors like OpenAI, which requires better performance.
According to reports, in the latest round of layoffs, some managers have been individually reassigned, while others have had to lose their jobs.
The company had also taken this step for restructuring last year, in which more than 12,000 employees had to lose their jobs.
The decision to lay off employees is part of Sundar Pichai’s broader strategy, introduced in 2022, aimed at making Google 20 percent better and embracing an AI-powered future.
