It’s a dilemma we’ve all experienced at some point, whether to buy a new phone or a used one. Buying a used phone is a better option in Pakistan these days as the prices of good smartphones in the country are skyrocketing.
In this article, we will write down the guidelines through which you can consider the essential factors before buying any used phone in Pakistan.
1) Purchase receipt
When buying a used phone, it is important to look at its original box and receipt. The receipt is also used to confirm that the phone is not stolen.
2) Check the phone’s body thoroughly for any scratches or dents
3) Water damage
One of the most common reasons people sell their used smartphones is that they accidentally dropped the phone in water, which is beyond repair. Water damage is not always immediately visible, but there are a few ways to check for it. For example, if the phone is on but not showing charging, it is highly likely that water has damaged the battery.
4) Don’t forget other essential items that came with the phone
These items include things like a new charger, case, or screen protector. If these are not provided, negotiate to reduce the price of the phone.
5) Check the phone’s screen thoroughly
You can check the screen by opening the screen on the phone with a completely white background. If you see a yellow tint or warmth display more prominently on the screen, then know that this is the original screen and if not, then the screen is not original.
6) Maximum battery capacity
If you are buying a phone that does not drain the battery, open the camera on your phone and select ‘Burst’ mode. Take a lot of pictures with ‘Burst’ mode and if you experience battery drain quickly, then the battery is bad.
7) Check the headphone jack, mic and speaker
8) Check the SIM and memory slots
9) Camera
If you see any scratches or dust on the camera lens, don’t buy that phone as it will never give you a good quality picture.
10) Examine the outer casing of the phone
If the seller tells you that the phone has already been opened, always ask about the work done on the phone. If any work has been done on the motherboard, you should never buy that phone.
