German Chancellor Schulz telephoned Russian President Putin, the conversation lasted for an hour. Before calling President Putin, the German Chancellor had also contacted Ukrainian President Zelensky.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, while calling the German Chancellor, said that we have never refused to negotiate, Ukraine had become an obstacle, we are still ready to resume talks.
He said that for a peace agreement, the conflict should be eliminated, security concerns should be removed, and regional realities should be accepted, then peace and order will be established in the region.
According to the AFP news agency, this was the first contact of any kind between Chancellor Schulz and President Putin after almost two years. The last time the two leaders spoke was in December 2022.
The German Chancellor had recently said in an interview that the country is facing an emergency situation in the financial sector due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
