Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has once again been elected as the President of the United States. He has been elected as the 47th President of the United States by defeating the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
In the US presidential election, the Republican candidate Donald Trump got 277 electoral votes and the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris got 226 electoral votes. A candidate needs at least 270 electoral votes out of a total of 538 to win.
Donald Trump also won in the swing states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada, while Kamala Harris won only in Michigan.
Donald Trump will be sworn in on January 20, 2025, with supporters celebrating as soon as Trump gets the electoral votes he needs. Trump supporters chanted slogans in front of the White House.
Republican candidate Donald Trump won in Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and South Carolina, while Kamala Harris won in Vermont, Massachusetts, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Donald Trump won 27 of the 50 states, while Kamala Harris won 19.
93 electoral votes from 7 swing states played a decisive role in Trump’s victory. According to the results so far, Republicans have won 188 seats and Democrats have won 160 seats in the House of Representatives.
The Republican Party also won the majority in the Senate, Republicans have 51 seats and Democrats have 43 seats in the Senate. A majority in the 100-member Senate requires 51 seats.
