California: WhatsApp has been working on a quick reaction feature for status updates for the past few months and it appears that the feature’s public rollout is near as the Meta sub-platform has released the app’s Android beta. Started feature testing on version 2.24.17.21.
According to the WhatsApp beta info, when viewing a status, users will see a heart-shaped “Like” button next to the “Reply” text box, allowing them to like the status update. And when someone reacts to your status with a like, you’ll see it in the status viewer list just like Instagram Stories. WhatsApp will also allow users to decide whether or not to receive notifications for reactions they like.
WhatsApp is working on another feature that focuses on the security and privacy of users. It will let users block messages from unknown accounts. Once this feature is turned on, WhatsApp will automatically block messages from unknown accounts if they exceed a certain volume.
The feature is currently under development and not even available to beta users, so it is unclear how long it will take for WhatsApp to release it publicly.
