Islamabad: The court has asked the Secretary Interior and others for not releasing Bushra Bibi despite her acquittal in the Iddat case.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of Islamabad High Court heard the petition against the superintendent of Adiala Jail for not releasing Bushra Bibi, the wife of the founding chairman PTI and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, despite being acquitted in the Iddat case. Bibi’s lawyer Latif Khosa appeared in court.
The lawyer argued that Bushra Bibi was not released after being acquitted in the Iddat Nikah case. They were pushed into jail and tortured.
The court said that you have another such application pending, to which the lawyer replied that that application is with the Chief Justice, in which we have requested to provide the details of the cases.
Later, the court issued a notice to the secretary of the Punjab Home Department and the IG Jails. Apart from this, the Islamabad High Court issued a notice to the Federal Interior Secretary and the Superintendent of Adiala Jail and sought their response.
Apart from this, the court removed the objections to the application and directed Chief Justice Amir Farooq to combine it with a similar case and adjourned the hearing till August 12.
