KARACHI: The current account deficit in the fiscal year 2023-24 was $680 million, which is the lowest deficit in 13 years.
According to the statistics released by the State Bank, a significant reduction in the current account deficit was recorded during the fiscal year 2023-24 due to a decrease in imports and an increase in remittances.
According to the central bank, the deficit of the current account in the last financial year was limited to 680 million dollars, which was 3 billion 27 million dollars in the financial year 2022-23.
According to the statistics, the current account deficit stood at $329 million in June 2024, an 11 percent decline in remittances and a 6 percent decline in the trade deficit contributed to curbing the current account deficit.
