Florida: A new study conducted at the University of Florida has shown that cano peels can play an important role in maintaining cardiovascular health.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among men, women and people of color and ethnicity.
A recent study suggests that certain gut bacteria may facilitate cardiovascular disease by using specific components during the digestive process. Meanwhile, these bacteria produce trimethylene N-oxide (TMAO). TMAO levels may help predict future cardiovascular disease.
In this study, the scientists studied the ability of phytochemical-rich cano peel extract (the extract) to reduce TMAO production.
In the study, scientists tested two types of extracts, the polar fraction and the non-polar fraction.
Yu Weng, a scientist involved in the research, said that the scientists used polar and non-polar solvents to obtain these fractions.
He said that if you see that there is water or vinegar in your salad, it is a polar fraction, while anything other than water is in oil, it is a non-polar fraction. were not exact but had the same polarity.
The results revealed that the non-polar fraction extract of the peels effectively inhibited the production of harmful chemicals.
The researchers also identified a compound called ferroloy putrescine in the polar fraction extract of the peels, which resists the enzymes responsible for TMA production.
