Massachusetts: A new study has revealed that crows can regularly count up to 4 counts.
According to research published in the journal Science, the way crows recognize and react to numbers is similar to the way we humans use it. Both sexes learn to count from an early age and are quick to recognize when looking at things in numbers.
Research led by researchers at the University of Tübingen in Germany suggests that crows can not only count, but when shown a number, they can also indicate it with a vocal number.
On the other hand, Heather Williams, professor of biology at Williams College in Massachusetts, said that humans do not have much control over skills such as numerical thinking, abstraction and forward planning. So it should come as no surprise that crows are considerably smarter.
It should be noted that counting in the world of zoology is not limited to crows. Chimpanzees learn to count numerical sequences and recognize digits like young children.
