Karachi: 9 years have passed since the martyrdom of the first female pilot of the Pakistan Air Force, Flying Officer Maryam Mukhtiar.
She was martyred due to a technical fault that occurred during training in a double-cockpit training fighter aircraft.
Born in Karachi on May 18, 1992, Maryam joined the 132nd GD Pilot Course of the Pakistan Air Force in May 2011 after her primary education.
In the second phase of training, Maryam was going to join the ranks of those heroes of the Pakistan Air Force, who created immortal stories of bravery in the wars of 1965 and 71.
From PAF Risalpur, Maryam was sent to MM Alam Air Base for fighter conversion, where Maryam started training in fighter aircraft. Maryam Mukhtiar preferred to join the Pakistani Armed Forces following in her father’s footsteps.
Despite her delicate nature, Maryam did something for her beloved homeland that is rarely seen. On the morning of November 24, 2015, Maryam set off on a training flight with her instructor.
At the same time, a technical malfunction occurred in the fighter training double-cockpit plane, due to which she had to exit the plane. In an extremely difficult and short time, she had to protect her own lives, but also consider the lives of other human beings below. During these difficult circumstances, Maryam sacrificed herself.
