The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has responded to a request to provide a security consultant during the tour of Bangladesh.
The board said that on the request of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), it has contacted the federal government for a security consultant to provide awareness to the team and officials.
Chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Operations, Jalal Younis while talking to the media said yesterday that it is Pakistan’s job to provide security for the team, but only gave assurances in this regard, after which the tour was finalized.
He said that PCB has been requested to provide us with a security consultant during the tour who is in touch with us at all times regarding security.
A PCB spokesperson confirmed the BCB’s request to have a security consultant, saying the team had not raised any security concerns, but security managers or consultants now have the status of support staff like media managers or team directors.
A PCB spokesperson said that teams hire security managers in the ICCT20 World Cup and other bilateral series as well. If the Bangladesh board wants to include a security consultant as part of the team management for the upcoming Test tour, that is their prerogative.
It should be noted that the Bengal Tigers team has to visit Pakistan from August 17 for a series of 2 Test matches, these matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship.
The first match of the series will be played in Rawalpindi from 21st to 25th August while the second match will be played in Karachi from 30th August to 3rd September.
