California: Video streaming platform YouTube has stepped up its crackdown on people using adblock.
Internet users usually use ad blockers to avoid recurring ads during videos on YouTube. YouTube has been issuing a crackdown warning against users using ad blockers for the past few months.
Users using ad blockers on social networking platform Reddit have reported strange incidents while using YouTube. Users reported that when watching videos with an active ad blocker, the video either stopped as soon as it started or the sound was muted.
A user on the platform wrote that whenever they use an ad blocker for YouTube, the video has no sound. The slider turns the sound on for a second and then turns it off.
Another user said that if they try to play a video with an ad blocker, the sound is there for the first few seconds, but then the video stops sounding.
YouTube announced last month that the company will take measures against third-party apps that block ads from running on the platform.
