ISLAMABAD: A delegation led by United Nations (UNMA) Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan Andrika Ratote met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The Interior Minister briefed the delegation on operations against TTP and Afghan refugees. .
The meeting was held at the Islamabad office of the Ministry of Interior. Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the United Nations delegation on arrival at the Ministry of Interior. The high-level delegation included UN Resident Coordinator Muhammad Yahya, Fadi El and Head of the UN Mission in Afghanistan Malik Sesay.
The United Nations Special Representative for Afghanistan strongly condemned the recent incidents of terrorism in Balochistan.
Mohsin Naqvi said that terrorism is a universal problem, Pakistan is the country most affected by terrorism, the sacrifices of security forces, police and citizens in the war against terrorism is unprecedented.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the delegation about the involvement of the outlawed TTP in attacks in Pakistan and said that the outlawed TTP is using the territory of Afghanistan for attacks from Afghanistan and it has to be stopped at all costs, Pakistan said. He wants peace and stability in Afghanistan and is playing every possible role in this regard.
The Interior Minister said that Pakistan has been hosting Afghan refugees for decades, the return of illegally staying foreigners has been started in a phased manner, no action is being taken against those with legal documents. No one can be allowed to stay in Pakistan without visas and other legal documents, the second phase of repatriation of Afghan refugees will begin soon.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the need for the role of the United Nations and the international community for the rehabilitation of Afghan refugees.
The United Nations Special Representative for Afghanistan appreciated Pakistan’s role regarding Afghan refugees and Doha Dialogue. Andrika Ratote said that they are working with the Afghan government on permanent rehabilitation of Afghan refugees.
