Geneva: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, has demanded action from Afghanistan on the cross-border attacks of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
According to the World News Agency, Munir Akram expressed his concern at the United Nations Security Council on the growing threat of terrorism from Afghanistan to Pakistan and said that the banned TPP is an alarm bell for the peace of the region.
In his speech at the fourth conference to review the implementation of the UN Program of Action, Pakistani ambassador Munir Akram further said that the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban describes Pakistan as Fitnah-ul-Khawarij.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said that with the support of the Afghan interim government, the TTP is rapidly expanding its operations and has become the largest terrorist group in Afghanistan.
Pakistani envoy Munir Akram said the Taliban-backed militants are armed with advanced weapons and are increasingly operating alongside other insurgent factions, including separatist groups such as the Majeed Brigades.
Munir Akram said that Pakistan fears that TTP’s growing alliance with Al-Qaeda could soon lead it to a central role in regional and global terrorist activities.
He highlighted an alarming increase in violence targeting Pakistan’s security forces and warned of the destabilization that TTP operations could bring to the wider region.
Furthermore, the Pakistani ambassador also criticized the Afghan Interim Government for its continuous violations of human rights, especially against women and girls.
Munir Akram condemned the Taliban government’s failure to fulfill its promises regarding gender equality, saying that these policies are not only against Islamic values but also hinder Afghanistan’s integration into the international community.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, said that despite repeated demands and indications of action against the outlawed TTP, no significant steps have been taken by Afghanistan.
