Islamabad: 27,542 new companies were registered in the country this year, most of which are related to IT.
SECP registered 27,542 new companies in the financial year 2023-24, taking the total number of registered companies to 222,697.
Among the newly registered companies, 58 percent are private limited companies and 39 percent are single member companies, of which 99.8 percent were registered online.
The highest number of 4129 companies were registered in the information technology sector. 3666 companies were registered in second place in trading, 3302 in real estate development and construction sector, 2992 in services, 1346 in tourism, 1177 in education, 1103 in food and beverages.
942 companies registered in e-commerce, corporate farming 780, marketing 620, and textile 589, mining 574, power generation 560, engineering 547, transport 523, pharmaceutical 497, chemical 457, healthcare 434 and energy 376.
According to SECP, 68 companies have been partnered by foreign investors and 31 foreign companies have established offices for business in Pakistan. Investors from China, Afghanistan, USA, UK, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Turkey have contributed to the companies.
