Iranian media BBC and Al Jazeera have claimed that the wreckage of the crashed helicopter has been found, all 9 people on board including the Iranian president have died.
According to the Iranian state TV report, the rescue teams have reached the wreckage of President Raisi’s helicopter.
According to Tehran Times, the helicopter accident happened 100 km away from Tabriz, in which the Iranian Foreign Minister and the Governor of Tabriz also died.
Iran’s Executive Vice President has confirmed the death of all the people, including President Ibrahim Raisi, in his tweet.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency says that the wreckage of the helicopter was found on a hill, but this claim has not been officially confirmed. The Iranian Red Crescent has also confirmed that rescue teams have reached the wreckage of the helicopter.
The helicopter crashed in the Dizmar forest in bad weather conditions. In addition to the Iranian President, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan Province Malik Rahmati, Ayatollah Ali Hashem, spokesman of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, and others were in the helicopter. Local authorities were also on board.
