After failing twice, the US House of Representatives has approved the spending bill in the third vote.
According to the American broadcasting company, 366 members voted in favor of the spending bill presented by the government and 34 voted against it. The approval of the bill averted the threat of a midnight shutdown in the US. If the bill had been rejected, all US government agencies would have been closed from midnight due to lack of funds for spending.
Under the bill, the government will be provided with $100 billion in disaster funds and $10 billion for farmers by March 2025. The bill will be sent to the Senate for final approval.
Before the vote on the Republican bill in the House of Representatives, both Democrats and Republicans had warned that it would be a mistake if Congress allowed the government to shut down. Previously, top Democratic and Republican members of the US Congress were working on an interim budget package to ensure that federal agencies have funds available to operate until March 14 of next year.
